பொருள்

மொழிபெயர்ப்பு நடந்துகொண்டிருக்கிறது. இப்போதைக்கு பொருள் ஆங்கிலத்தில் உள்ளது.

Shanti Patha 1: May we, O gods, hear only what is auspicious with our ears, see only what is good and worthy with our eyes, and remain steady and devoted in body and mind, offering the life we’ve been granted in service of the divine.

Shanti Patha 2: May wise Indra, all-knowing Pushan, and protective Tarkshya grant us wellbeing; may Brihaspati, teacher of the gods, bless us too. Om, peace, peace, peace.

 Salutations to you, O Ganapati.

You alone are the visible truth of all things; you alone create, you alone sustain, you alone dissolve; you are this whole universe, you are Brahman itself, and you are the eternal Self within.

I speak what is right; I speak what is true.

Protect me; protect the teacher, the listener, the giver and the sustainer of this truth, and the disciple who follows it — protect it from every direction: east, south, west, north, above and below, and guard me from all sides.

You are made of speech and of consciousness, of bliss and of Brahman; you are existence-consciousness-bliss without a second, the visible Brahman, and the very nature of knowledge and wisdom.

This whole universe is born from you, rests in you, and will dissolve back into you; you are earth, water, fire, air and space, the four levels of speech, beyond the three gunas, the three states, the three bodies and the three times, ever present in the Muladhara, the source of the three shaktis whom yogis meditate on always — you are Brahma, Vishnu, Rudra, Indra, Agni, Vayu, Surya, Chandra, and the syllable Om itself.

Your mantra-form begins with the sound "Ga," followed by "A," joined with the nasal sound, crowned with the crescent, and completed with the sacred syllable Om — this is your mantra form.

In this mantra, "Ga" is the first form, "A" the middle form, the nasal sound the final form, and the dot above completes it, joined together in sound as one.

This is the wisdom of Ganesha, revealed to the sage Ganaka, in the Nichrid-Gayatri meter, with Ganapati as its deity: Om, salutations to Ganapati.

We meditate upon the one-tusked Lord, contemplating the curved-trunked one; may that tusked Lord awaken our understanding.

He has a single tusk, four hands holding a noose and a goad, a tusk and a gesture of blessing, a banner marked with a mouse; his form glows red, with a large belly, fan-like ears, red garments, red fragrant paste and red flowers — he who meditates daily on this compassionate, eternal Lord, the cause of the world manifest from the very beginning, becomes the greatest among yogis.

Salutations to the Lord of all beings, salutations to Ganapati, salutations to the Lord of the ganas; salutations to you, large-bellied, one-tusked remover of obstacles, son of Shiva, granter of boons.

Whoever studies this Atharvashirsha becomes fit to know Brahman, is untroubled by obstacles, finds happiness everywhere, and is freed from the five great sins; reciting it morning and evening destroys the sins of day and night, removes every obstacle, and grants righteousness, prosperity, desire and liberation.

This text should not be given to the unworthy; whoever does so out of attachment commits a wrong; whoever recites it a thousand times attains whatever they seek through it.

Whoever consecrates Ganapati with this text becomes eloquent; whoever fasts and recites it on the fourth day of the lunar cycle becomes wise; this is the word of the Atharva sage — one who knows this truth is never afraid again.

Whoever worships with young durva grass becomes prosperous; whoever worships with parched rice becomes renowned and wise; whoever worships with a thousand sweet modakas obtains their wish; whoever worships with ghee-soaked twigs obtains everything.

Whoever properly teaches this to eight learned devotees becomes radiant as the sun; whoever recites it during a solar eclipse by a great river, or before an image of Ganapati, gains mastery of the mantra, and is freed from great obstacles, great faults and great misfortune, becoming all-knowing — this indeed is the Veda. Thus ends the Upanishad. Om, peace, peace, peace.
